Hill & Friends Happy Bag review

Hill & Friends Bottle Green Happy Bag

I’d lusted after this bag for a while before taking the plunge in the Christmas sale. I was a big fan of Hill & Friends already thanks to my smaller Happy Tweency bag, but this slightly bigger version seemed that bit more practical (but more on that later).

I bought the Bottle Green Embossed Croc Happy Bag, which is lined in a luxurious black Italian calf suede, as I thought the dark green would work well with most other colours and would be a nice twist instead of black or tan. So far, I’ve been right on this, although maybe I won’t reach for it quite as much in the summer months. But then again, summer in the UK is pretty hit and miss at the best of times so that remains to be seen.

The hardware, including the iconic wink twist lock, is silver, there’s a slip pocket inside and a long, extendable strap which means you can wear it crossbody. I’m 5ft 8in and it sits nicely on my hip/bum.

This bag is such a high quality, it puts other designer brands to shame in my opinion. It’s lightweight to carry but isn’t flimsy. The leather is soft but substantial¬†and the beautiful trapunto detail on the front flap gives it the edge over other similar style bags.

But the space inside! Well, this is where this bag really comes into its own. It may be small but it’s so spacious thanks to the clever design which sees the sides of the bag effectively extend to fit everything you need. I routinely carry my purse, phone, keys, diary, a pen, earphones, work pass, Vaseline pot, handcream and a packet of paracetamol in mine, and there’s STILL loads of room.

In short, it’s pretty much my ideal bag. I love the Tweency for days where I don’t need much (or the very rare meal out) but the Happy Bag is rapidly becoming my daily go-to as it’s stylish, works with both smart and casual looks, not everyone else will be carrying one and the quality is exceptional.
