Vinyl coats and slouchy totes – Three Looks to buy now

Before I descend into a full-on Christmas frenzy (it’s November now, so it’s fine, right?) I wanted to touch on a key trend for this winter.

High-shine vinyl coats are back, and while they’re immensely practical in the increasingly inclement weather, they do pose a somewhat tricky question of “what bag can I wear with this?”

When your coat is doing all of the talking and turning heads you can keep it simple with your accessories and nothing works better than a slouchy, soft leather grab-and-go bag.

I’ve put together three of the best coat and tote combos for this season, so let’s dive on in.

The Toffee Trench

Toffee Vinyl Trench

Toffee is something of a classic colour when it comes to a trench coat but the vinyl really brings this Wanda Nylon number bang up to date. Paired with a slouchy Oxblood Theory grab bag, classic black pumps and a statement necklace, I think this look is both stylish and ridiculously practical.

The Black Vinyl Trench

OK, so I’ve pushed the boat out somewhat here by including this Tom Ford patent trench (seriously, lottery win where are you?) but you can get similar versions at ASOS for £80.00 and Studio by Preen at Debenhams for £108 (which just so happens to be in the sale). Speaking of the high street, the fabulous red boots are from Topshop and they and the black trench both look great with this rather lovely bag by The Row.

The Red Vinyl Coat

Red is the colour this season and this Mango Vinyl trench is a bargain at £89.99. (They also have a belted version in black for £119.99 FYI). If you can afford to make a statement purchase when it comes to your footwear, then these Ellery boots are absolutely the piece to go for. That gold heel – it’s everything. Top off this look with check trousers, a toffee jumper and a slouchy hobo by J W Anderson and you’re winning at winter.

So there you have it. What are your thoughts on the vinyl trend? Do you like the looks I’ve put together? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
