Geometric Bags and where to find them
Circle bags are having a bit of a moment (as I discussed the other week) but strong geometric shapes are very much in Vogue as a rule this season.
Balenciaga’s Triangle Duffle, Victoria Beckham’s square box Vanity leather shoulder bag, Cult Gaia’s semi-circle bamboo clutch and Building Block’s ETC Sling especially are playing with new shapes in bold ways.
Simon Miller also nods to the geometric trend with the circle handles of his bucket bags, as do Chloe with their Nile Bracelet bag (which I love).
Valentino have also added their signature Rockstuds to a circular to embrace the trend.
Of course, these high-end bags don’t come cheap and the key if you’re buying one is to either a) have pots of cash so it won’t matter if you just use it for one season, or b) choose a style which you love that will work for you.
Victoria Beckham’s strong boxy style has the strongest staying power of all the ones above, but there’s always the option of turning to the high street for a more purse-friendly option.
Here’s the best of the high street/online which you can buy right now
Have I tempted you to add a few funk shapes to your handbag collection? I love the & Other Stories red boxy chain bag and I think it looks much more expensive than its price tag while ASOS’s Sphere Cage clutch is an interesting twist on an evening bag with party season fast approaching. What do you think?
